KAREN WIGHT
"An expression of emotion, thought, spirit and movement in a single gesture of body dance"
Karen Wight explores the movement strength and sensuality of the human form in her contemporary works of bronze and resin sculpture, painting, drawing and fine jewelry. Her pieces illuminate the dynamically fluid motion of the human figure. You are invited to touch her sculptures and move them into different positions. Wight also creates life size bronze, fountains and garden sculptures.
"Touch it, turn it, play with it and understand my art from every angle."
Karen Wight's striking fine jewelry honors the human form. Figures in Yoga and Pilates positions, couples embracing and spectacular gymnastic moves are the architecture of her sculptural jewelry. Her pendants swivel in your hands, detach and can display in a elegant steel stand as a miniature sculpture. Her new line accentuates the beauty of hands, joining together, repeated as a necklaces, bracelets and rings, alive with the sparkle of fine gem stones.
Wight received her B.F.A. in Painting from Chouinard Art School (California Institute of the Arts) and an M.A. in Environmental Design from U.C.L.A.. Wight is an internationally known artist, with notable exhibitions in museums and fine art galleries in the USA, Canada, France, Monaco, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Mexico.
Wight lived and had a studio in Provence, France for years and is now living and making art in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, completing commissions, one for a 6' bronze fountain sculpture.
